Sure they are a little weird looking and they are styled similar to what the Nazis drove in WWII but I can't imagine a much better car for life on an island somewhere tropical.

Thanks for the info but I would probably buy a Jeep first. This would be like my 20th car if I was rich sort of thing

A thing would be great for a summer home or something in a good clinate, I'd love to have one.

Do you know if the window folds down in the front like a Jeep? That would be awesome

I believe it does. This obsession my girlfriend has started a few years ago when we were walking through a town down the Cape (Cape Cod, that is) and one just like the image you posted was parked on a pier. We had no idea what it was but she tracked it down.
There are ones of various conditions posted around the country: rough shape, clean but old, full restos and then the ones from a company in Vancouver that basically recreates it (but those cost $50k+). They seem incredibly cool little vehicles.

I had no idea they cost that much money for a repo. I always thought an original was 5-10k max.

Closest one to me. Then there is this one...looks nice.
But yeah, the Vancouver one is like a modern equivalent that they custom build with the original factory specs as the goal.
